Legal support for IDPs from Luhansk in Samar through outreach session and consultations by Art of Aid
The team of the NGO “Art of Aid” conducted an outreach group legal information session and individual consultations for residents of a shelter hosting the Sievierodonetsk community in the city of Samar. The participants were internally displaced persons from Luhansk oblast who currently live in the shelter and face ongoing legal challenges related to housing loss, access to social benefits, and documentation.
During the group session, participants received up-to-date information on their rights and available protection mechanisms, with a particular focus on submitting applications to the International Register of Damage for Ukraine. The lawyers explained step-by-step procedures, highlighted common mistakes, and addressed participants’ questions regarding the application process. Following the group session, each participant had the opportunity to receive an individual consultation tailored to their specific situation and needs.
Outreach formats like this ensure access to legal aid for people who may not be able to visit support centers on their own. For many shelter residents, such visits are often the only opportunity to receive professional legal assistance and navigate complex legal procedures.
Working directly with displaced communities living together also creates a safer space for discussing shared challenges, exchanging experiences, and strengthening mutual support.
Through cooperation with the Sievierodonetsk City Military Administration, the Art of Aid team is able to respond promptly to people’s needs and deliver support where it is most needed.
The project is implemented by the NGO “Art of Aid” with the support of the Federal Government of Germany and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).
