The path of our organization

The NGO "Art of Aid" was founded in 2018 in Stanytsia Luhanska, just 15 km from the front line. The founders were women and girls who experienced the first forced displacement from occupied Luhansk. We created the organization to have a voice, support, and influence change in frontline communities.

The first initiatives were aimed at creating a safe space for youth, children and women. Thanks to the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), we managed to open a youth space with an open cinema, where film screenings, festive events, integration meetings for IDPs and local residents took place. At the same time, we carried out environmental projects with the support of GIZ - we installed waste sorting bins in schools, distributed reusable eco-bags, organized an ECO-fest and created sewing rooms where IDP women could regain their strength through creative interaction. We actively worked with children and adolescents, organized Peace Days, supported children with disabilities, and created social cohesion even in conditions of instability, isolation and periodic shelling.

February 24, 2022 again divided our lives into “before” and “after”. We were forced to urgently evacuate to the city of Dnipro. We lost everything again - except the determination to continue our work. And our activities did not stop for a day: with the support of our partners from different parts of the world and Ukraine, we immediately began supporting IDPs in transit centers, providing emergency support in the form of humanitarian aid.

However, the war continues, and it is becoming clear that the needs of the victims are not decreasing, but are gradually changing their content. In 2024, with the support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), we opened the Center for Protection, Support and Adaptation of IDPs in Dnipro. Here we provide legal, psychosocial and social assistance to women, children, IDPs, LGBTQ+ representatives, survivors of GBV and people with disabilities. Our team is made up of professionals with many years of experience who know the needs of victims well. We develop programs together with the target audience, with a deep understanding of pain, barriers and hopes. As part of the Humanitarian Response in Ukraine (HNRP), we strive to be an example of strength and resilience for all those who have experienced forced displacement.

“Art of Aid” activities

  • Humanity

We put the dignity and rights of every person first, helping those affected by conflict and forced displacement. We act with respect for the individuality, pain and experiences of everyone we support.

  • Impartiality

We do not discriminate on any grounds – ethnic, religious, gender, age, national origin or any other. We focus exclusively on the needs of those affected.

  • Neutrality

We do not participate in political or religious disputes. Our activities are aimed solely at helping victims, regardless of the context of the conflict.

  • Independence

We remain completely independent from any political, economic or external influence. Our decisions are a response to humanitarian needs, not the interests of third parties.

  • Inclusivity

We strive for everyone to have equal access to assistance. We don't just work for communities - we work with them, involving beneficiaries in the design and implementation of programs.

  • Transparency and accountability

We operate openly, accountable to donors, partners and beneficiaries themselves. We build trust through honesty, regular reporting and openness to feedback.

  • Innovation

We seek new approaches to solving complex humanitarian problems. We value creativity, experiment with formats, and implement effective non-standard solutions.
