Dignified Education for IDP Children: School Supply Kits
Here is the result of our latest initiative to support IDPs: helping children who were forced to flee their homes in the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions 💙💛
In just a few days, a new school year will begin. For many children, it will be their first September 1st in a new city and a new school. Each of us remembers that special feeling before the first day of school- excitement, anticipation, and the joy of reuniting with friends and discovering something new.
But for these children, everything would have been different if their schools hadn’t been destroyed by Russian missiles and their cities hadn’t been occupied. They will never again see their former classmates who have been scattered across Ukraine and the world. Some of them will never hear the school bell again…
Today, in Ukraine, September 1st is not only a day of celebration. It is also a day of remembrance - for all the children who will never go to school again, and for all those whose education has been interrupted by war.
These children were forced to change their schools, teachers, and environment. Some will study online this year due to the constant threat of missile strikes. Others will attend school in person, but each air raid alert will send them rushing to shelters.
Still, life goes on. And so does learning. Because these children are our future. They are the ones who will rebuild an independent Ukraine. And it is our duty to give them support and the opportunity to continue receiving a quality education.
That’s why the Art of Aid team prepared 45 backpacks filled with school supplies: notebooks, pens, pencil cases, paints, drawing pads, and other essentials. And inside each backpack—a small sweet surprise to bring a sense of joy and remind them that they are cared for.
We are happy to see the children’s smiles and truly believe: even the smallest gestures can help restore faith that life goes on—and that kindness always wins.
With respect,
The "Art of Aid" Team
